Lago Nahuel Huapi

Bariloche, the rather unattractive centre of activity in Argentina's beautiful Lake District, sits on the stunning Lago Nahuel Huapi.

And wouldn't you know it, the best view is from my hotel room window!

But I did take a cruise along the lake to Victoria Island. here are just a few of the shots of the shoreline, the Andes and the lovely lake.

One of the 'cool' stops was at the Parque National de los Arryanes, occupying an entire peninsula at the north end of the lake, it protects a grove of indigenous coniferous trees with an odd characteristic. Regardless of the air temperature, the bark feels cool and clamy to the touch. I'm sure someone explained the phenomenon to me in Spanish, but I was so busy hugging the trees, and missed it.
